Welcome to the GroupWize privacy policy. GroupWize is owned and operated by Output Labs LLC. GroupWize allows you to know what’s really going on in your group chats – who’s the funniest, who says “LOL” the most, and who’s over-using to communicate.


GroupWize is committed to creating and maintaining a trusted community, and takes precautions to prevent unauthorized access to or misuse of your data. Please read this privacy policy carefully because it governs your use of our website (the “Site”) and the services and products available at or through the website, including our mobile application, GroupWize (the “App”). In short, GroupWize:

  • Requires your consent to collect a minimal amount of personally identifying data about you in order to offer you our Services;
  • Anonymizes chat logs that you send us to the best of our ability;
  • Destroys personally identifying information as soon as possible, without storing sensitive data; and
  • Implements strong security protocols to protect information as we receive, process and destroy it.


This Privacy Policy does not apply to the privacy practices of third parties, including third party messaging services you use to communicate with your contacts, or other third parties whose links may appear on the Services. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third parties, and encourage you to read those policies and recommend that you exercise caution before you voluntarily disclose personally identifiable information through third-party links on third-party websites or platforms. Collection and Use of Information


  1. Personal Information

We may receive certain personally identifiable information (“personal information”) about you, such as your name and telephone number that you provide through the Services. Personal information attached to your messaging account (name and phone number), is anonymized and stored as such. This means that you and your chat group participants might be called Sarah, Jay and Charlie on your device, but through anonymization, we store such data as User1, User2, and User3. We do not and will not send spam, sell or rent your phone number or third party messaging service account details to third parties. We do not disclose, sell, share, trade or give away any information to third parties, except as needed to comply with the a court order or other law. We store information in order to provide the Services to you, and also to develop new Services that may be available to you or third parties in the future.


  1. In-App Purchases

Payment for certain Services is provided by Apple’s In-App Purchase (IAP) API or Google’s In-App Billing (IAB) API, and is subject to Apple’s IAP or Google’s IAB policies, including policies on payments, applicable taxes, and refunds. You may also be subject to other applicable Apple/Apple App Store, and/or Google/Google Play terms and conditions pertaining to payment. Apple and Google shall be known collectively as “Third Party Payment Parties”. Third Party Payment Parties alone perform and handle all payment processing operations concerning your use of Services requiring payment. GroupWize does not oversee or participate in payment processing for these Services, and as such we do not access or obtain or seek to access or obtain information that any Third Party Payment Party has received from you.


  1. Location Information & IP Addresses

GroupWize does not collect or store location data through your download or use of the Services. Internet Protocol addresses indicate the location of a user’s computers or mobile device on a network connected to the Internet. Providing Services to you may result in the logging of IP addresses for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. While this may be used to infer an approximation of your location when using certain features of the Services, we do not log IP addresses to track your session, nor do we link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable.


  1. Logging Statistics

Like most website and app operators, our servers automatically collect certain types of non-personally-identifying, technical information, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Amplitude is software that collects data about our visitors (you), and provides us with behavioral analytics that enable us to improve the Services we offer. We may use Amplitude to record certain technical data, including:

  • What website you came from to get here
  • How long you stay for
  • What kind of device you’re using

We use this information to better understand how our visitors use our website, and to maintain Services.


  1. Cookies

Your use of certain of the Services may result in the assignment and storage of session cookies by Google Analytics to recognize your access privileges and generally track user preferences. A cookie is a text file that is placed on the hard disk of your computer or mobile device by a server. Session cookies expire when you end your session and close your browser interface. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer or mobile device. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers or mobile devices should deny Cookies in the pop-up window. If Cookies are denied, certain features of our Services may not function properly.

Protection of Certain Personally Identifying Information


GroupWize discloses potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information only to those of its employees and contractors and affiliated organizations that: (i) need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf or to provide the Services; and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees and contractors may be located outside of your home country now or at a later date; by using the Services you consent to the transfer of such information to them.

GroupWize also uses third party services (“Affiliated Organizations”) providing servers and hosting services, namely Scaleaway and Amazon AWS. GroupWize does not transfer to any Affiliated Organization your personally identifiable information, and removes non-anonymized data immediately upon anonymization, and stores anonymized data on such Affiliated Organizations. Affiliated Organizations do not act as data processors for GroupWize.

GroupWize takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information.

Feedback & Support


If you send us a request (via a support email or one of our feedback channels), we reserve the right to publish it (stripped of all personally identifying information, of course) in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users (i.e. create an FAQ database).

At times, we may provide technical support to you. In order to do so, we may ask for and/or additional personally identifying information, such as your email address so we may respond to your support request or for the purpose of troubleshooting, running tests, and/or otherwise providing support. In providing technical support to you, we promise to hold any information we encounter in the process of providing support to the highest possible security and protection standards.

Security & Data Storage


To prevent unauthorized access, safeguard data accuracy, and maintain the appropriate use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, technical, and administrative procedures to protect the personal information data you submit. We make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems. However, since the Internet is not 100% secure and as new technology evolves and emerges, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party interferences from illegally obtaining or tampering with any personal information you submit to us that we cannot control (e.g. personal information with the chat content that you send us).


We encourage you to help us by also taking precautions to protect your personal data when you use the Services. Make sure you use a secure connection, and ensure the physical safety of the devices you use to participate in group chats, and avoid sending us any chat logs that explicitly contains the personal information of you or your contacts.

We do not promote or offer the Services for use by anyone under the age of 13 (“minors”). GroupWize does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from minors, and we will not knowingly link to any third-party website or platform, or host any of your Sites that solicit or collect personal information from minors. International Users


EU Users


If you are a resident of an EU nation and use our Services from within the EU, you acknowledge that any information that we collect and store, for the limited purposes outlined above in this Privacy Policy, will be collected and stored outside of the EU. For avoidance of confusion, references to “personal information” in this policy are equivalent to what is commonly referred to as “personal data” in the EU.


Brazilian Users

The personal information collected, stored, used and/or processed by GroupWize, as described in this privacy policy, are collected, stored, used and/or processed in accordance with Brazilian Law No. 12,965/2014. By clicking “I Agree” or any other button indicating your acceptance of this privacy policy, you expressly consent to the collection, use, storage and processing of your personal information by GroupWize as described.

By clicking “I Accept”, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and processing of your personal information in the manner described in this Privacy Policy, including our procedures related to cookies and IP addresses. We store data about you in the US. You understand that the US does not have the same level of protection for personal information that exists in other countries. Your consent is voluntary, and you may revoke your consent by opting out at any time. If you choose to opt-out, we can no longer provide you with the Services. Business Transfers


If the ownership of GroupWize substantially changes, such that all of its assets were acquired, or merged into another entity, or in the unlikely event that GroupWize enters bankruptcy, you understand that any stored personally identifying, and non-personally identifying information and data will likely be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer or merging entity of GroupWize may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.
